About Me

Working with Me

There are a wide range of reasons that you may be considering working with a counsellor. You may be struggling with anxiety or low mood, feel confused, vulnerable or need support through a difficult time. You may be wanting to address a specific issue that is causing you difficulties.

My therapeutic stance is largely informed by an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (known as ACT).
ACT takes the stance that it is our battle with trying to control unpleasant, unwanted feelings or thoughts that causes us the most problems.  It is essentially an approach of `Embrace your demons and follow your heart`

The way we will be working together will be quite active. We will be working out what’s most important in your life.  This means whilst of course there will be talking and listening, its also about new skills and trying as best you can to work with these skills between our sessions.
